trainers quotes

"WHITE SHAHEEN is in great form and ran well last time out. We know the trip suits over 1 mile 4 and think he will have a great chance today - looks a decent e/w option around 11/2."
William Muir

27/06/16 1st 4/1

"Appleberry - Slowly slipping down the weights to what now looks a decent mark. Up in grade here though makes life a bit harder with better opposition, but after two runs this season is slowly coming to the boil and with that small each-way claims."
Mick Appleby

27/06/16 3rd 16/1

"Magna Cartor - The horse is in good order after his win at Southwell over hurdles last month. Conditions will suit and we've given him a month to get over that race. The favourite - Nikki Steel - will be hard to beat in a competitive race but we head here with a decent chance if that horse runs below-par."
Mark Loughnane

26/06/16 2nd 9/1

"Personal Touch - Only fourth run for us, but is slowly coming back down to a fair mark. Won off a 2lb higher mark at Ayr last season, plus stays further than this 6f trip. We expect the race to be run at a decent pace with a few solid front-runners lining-up so that should also suit. Is also a past course winner so that helps. A tough race, but 4 places for the e/w help so we head here with an each-way squeak."
Mick Appleby

25/06/16 1st 16/1

"Things look much easier for Zain Arion here today running in a handicap for the first time. She has a good draw in 3 and the step up to 1m4f (from 1m) should also suit. Track will also be fine so I expect her to out-run her odds."
Charlie Fellowes

25/06/16 2nd 20/1

"Kestrel Call - First run for us after coming from the Simon Crisford camp - so we'll learn more today. We look up against it here with 3 of the 5 other runners being last-time out winners. Stays a bit further so a strong pace will suit us and did show signs of a return to form last time when only beaten 3 1/4 lengths at Pontefract. Higher grade here though so a lot more needed, but at least we get weight all-round and a fair prize so worth taking a stab."
Mick Appleby

25/06/16 1st 20/1

"September Issue - The Michael Easterby horse - Black Grass - is clearly the one to beat, but we've a decent chance of going close as the return to the AW is a big plus for this horse. Fair mark and this drop back to 5f will not be an issue. Only 6 runners, but we are hopeful we can pick up some prize money and make the long trip up pay off."
Gay Kelleway

24/06/16 1st 11/2

"Lulu The Zulu - Tight little conditions race but on these terms we've a decent chance. Trip and ground will suit and seems to be better for her two recent runs. Silvestre a plus in the saddle too - tight race, but she stays further, which might be a plus in this ground - we've as good a chance as any."
Mick Appleby

24/06/16 1st 9/4

"Stars N Angels - Very pleasing run last time out when winning at Salisbury. We are up 6lbs for that and also up in grade here so a bit more needed. But the horse rarely runs a bad race - has been placed the last four outings - so deserves to take her chance. Place claims, with the Haggas and Godolphin horses looking the ones to beat."
Mick Appleby

24/06/16 2nd 10/1

"Memories Galore - Decent prize here so no surprise it's a very competitive race. First run on the Newcastle AW for this horse, but handles Kempton and was a fine second there last time. Up in grade here, but we get in with a light weight and certainly has enough pace to cope with this drop to 5f. The horse is well so hopeful of running a nice race - e/w claims in a tough contest."
Harry Dunlop

“I enjoy reading the e-mails each day and getting the trainers thoughts.  I have been keeping my punting to the 4 & 5* advices for now. Today I read the thoughts of Jamie Snowden on Lucy's Girl - but then looked at the race - rank outsider of 4 runners - never have picked that myself in a month of Sundays - but the trainer was confident so put on a tenner at BFSP - happy days with a return of 36/1. The fee is a small price to pay for such inside info”. Ian S
