Valamix is by Valirann (an Aga Khan bred sire - top rated 3yr old stayer in France in 2013), out of an unraced mare who is closely related to the black type performers The Duke's Speech (rated 130) and Bleak House (rated 128); her dam won a bumper and was out of half-sister to Grand Criterium (Grade 1) winner Danishkada. Valamix was placed in his last bumper and on both his hurdle starts. He looks to have improved with each run, and he should appreciate this step up in trip. He should run into a place today, and with some luck he'd have half a chance of challenging the favourite. It's not a strong race.
