Alpha Crucis ran three times as a juvenile and all three featured slow starts. What we might not have been expecting - and certainly the market wasn't as he started 300/1 - was a 3rd in a 13-runner novice event at Newmarket in the last of them. He's been gelded over the winter and we are hopeful that will enable him to cope with his opening mark of 72.
